Making coffee is an essential part of everyday life for many people around the world. So when you are camping or out for a day in the woods and you are craving a cup of coffee, what do you do? With no coffee houses in sight and no coffee maker, how will you make your cup of joe?

That is where we come in! Here at Waka Coffee, we have spent lots of time searching to find the best ways to make coffee in the outdoors! There are a variety of different ways to make coffee ranging from instant coffee to brew coffee and everything in between.

So, without further ado, let’s explore all you need to know about how to make coffee in the outdoors!

Option #1: Instant Coffee

The first option on our list is the easiest and probably the most common method of making coffee outdoors. Instant coffee is a surefire method of making a delicious cup of coffee away from a coffee pot.

Instant coffee is perfect for camping trips or hiking trips because a little goes a long way and you do not need any extra equipment to make instant coffee. If you are going camping, then you most likely already have a camping stove or you know how to create a campfire.

When you are camping, you need to eat thus you most likely will already have a pot or a kettle that you will use for meals in your hiking pack.  Because you already have the cooking utensils that you need, all you have to do is create a fire or light your camp stove, fill the pot or kettle with clean water, and place the kettle on a spit over the fire or on a grill tray over the fire.

Once the water begins to boil or steam, you can take a cup and scoop some of the hot water into the cup. Then all you have to do is add in your instant coffee, give the coffee a swirl around to mix it up, and enjoy!

Instant coffee is truly the easiest way and the most efficient way to make coffee on the go while outside. It does not take up too much room in your hiking bag either, so it is a more efficient option storage-wise than traditional ground coffee.

Option #2: Pour Over Coffee

The second option is creating a pour-over coffee set up while outside. Pour-over coffee is essentially what your coffee maker does, so recreating it with a rudimentary system is pretty easy.

To make a pour-over coffee system outdoors, you will need a source of heat like a camp stove or a campfire, a pot or kettle of water that you can heat on the fire, coffee filters, and a large mug or bowl.

The first thing you need to do is to start your camp stove or your campfire. Once your fire is ready, place the pot or kettle of water onto a spit over the fire or onto a grill stand in the fire to allow the water to come to a boil or at least heat it to the temperature you want.

While the water begins to heat, place the amount of coffee that you want into the coffee filter. Then, fit the coffee filter over the opening of the mug and make sure there is plenty of room underneath the coffee filter for the coffee to drip into.

When the water is ready, slowly and carefully pour the hot water over the coffee grinds and allow the coffee to drip into the mug below. In a few short minutes, you will have a fresh, hot cup of coffee!

Option #3: French Press

Using a French press is a great way to make coffee when you are outside or away from a coffee machine. It is very simple to use and very compact and convenient to take with you on the road or out into the woods.

How to make coffee using a French press in the doors you will need a source of heat, a pot or kettle to boil water with, a French press, coffee, and a mug or cup.

To begin, you will first have to start your camping stove or create a campfire. Once your fire is heating up nicely, you can begin to boil the water. You can either hang a pot or kettle over the stove or campfire using a spit or you can put a campfire grill over the fire to place the pot or kettle on top of.

While the water heats up, you can prepare the rest of the coffee. This is when you will scoop the coffee that you want into the French press and set up the French press so that it is ready to be used when the water is hot enough.

Once the water is ready to be used, you can pour it into the French press and brew the coffee according to the instructions of the French press. And once the coffee is all ready to go you can pour it into your cup and enjoy a fresh cup of Joe!

Option #4: Bring Coffee

The last option to make coffee outdoors is to bring already brewed coffee with you. You can bring a bottle of coffee with you into the outdoors so that all you have to do is heat it and it’s ready to go!

For this method, all you need is a kettle or a pot and a source of heat. Simply pour the coffee that is already made into the pot or Kettle, place the pot or Kettle over the camp stove or campfire, and wait until the coffee has reached the temperature that you want.

And just like that! With any of these methods, you can create a fresh and delicious cup of coffee in the outdoors.
